Abdul Gaffour, 30 years, who is currently pursuing his Master program with the Faculty of History and Revealed Knowledge, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). He is being assisted by Bro. Abdul Quttub, his fellow colleague from UIAM.
The main objectives of the council are as follows:-
i) To bring together and make full use of the intellectual force latent among Rohingya youths in Malaysia. These youths have the golden opportunity to enjoy tertiary education, and are able to help provide the right guidance to their fellow friends on overcoming the manifold obstacles and challenges ahead;
ii) To strengthen the belief system (aqidah) of the Rohingya youth through organisation of motivational programs, such as talks, discussions, workshops and seminars so that they would be able to become good Muslims who would be able to uphold the principles of ‘amal makruf nahi mungkar’.
iii) To imbibe a sense of identity and pride amongst the Rohingya youth, as well as enable them to remember the struggles and difficulties faced by their forefathers.
From 19 to 20 November 2011, the Youth Council had successfully organized a holiday camp cum workshop on the theme ‘Rohingya Youth in Malaysia: Looking for a Better Future’. The event, sponsored by the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) was held at Chula Hotel, Port Dickson and attended by 40 Rohingya youth from the Klang Valley between the ages of 12 – 35 years old.
The 2 day program was conducted jointly by Abdul Gaffour and Abdul Quttub, who were assisted by MUR leadership under the chairmanship of Ustaz Muhammad Amin bin Muhammad Kassim.
The council also invited Mr. Ab. Halim Ismail [Secretary-General of Wadah Pencerdasan Umat (WADAH)] and Mr. Mohd. Ghazali bin Mohd. Yasin [Former Director of Future Global Network Foundation (FGN)] to give motivational talks related to the theme of the workshop.

This year alone, MUR received donations for the purchase of 61 cattle and 6  sheep for distribution among some Rohingya refugees living in Malaysia, the district of Cox Bazaar (Bangladesh) as well as those from within our families and friends who are still trapped in the Rakhine State in Myanmar (formally known as ‘Arakan’).

The MUR leadership would like to express its special thanks to Bro. Ahmad Azam Abdul Rahman (Chairman, Global Peace Mission Malaysia (GPM)) for his kind effort in  obtaining contributions for 30 cattle from Khayrat Foundation in Turkey for distribution to the Rohingya refugees.  MUR is also grateful to Jemaah Islah Malaysia (JIM), under the chairmanship of Bro Zaid Kamaruddin, for making a significant contributions for the same cause.

Ustaz Muhammad Amin bin Muhammad Kassim (Chairman, Majlis Ulama Rohingya) hopes that Muslim NGOs as well as every Muslim brother and sister who had made the qurban contributions for the sake of the Rohingya communities this year shall be rewarded by Allah Subhanahu Wataala for their goodly action, Insya’Allah!
