PENGHARGAAN DAN TERIMA KASIH KEPADA PEMIMPIN ABIM

Kepimpinan MUR sukacita merakamkan ucapan setinggi penghargaan dan terima kasih kepada Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (ABIM), Cawangan Klang, di bawah pimpinan Cikgu Muslim, yang kerap menyumbangkan beras dan keperluan makanan kepada murid-murid tahfiz yang belajar dan tinggal di Madrasah Al-Islahiah Al-Islamiah Tahfizul Quran, Jalan Meru.

Sumbangan ikhlas daripada pihak ABIM amat dialu-alukan. Semoga sumbangan dan sadaqah jariah ini akan dapat melahirkan murid-murid yang hafiz al-Quran.  Pada masa ini seramai 32 orang murid (dari 71 keseluruhannya) sedang mengkhusus pengajian Tahfiz Al-Quran di bawah pimpinan Ustaz Al-Hafiz Abdul Jalil bin Dudumeah.

Lawatan Proffesor Azizah dan Pegawai MKN ke Madrasah MERU

Proffesor Azizah binte Kassim, Fellow Kanan dari Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), yang membuat kajian sosio-ekonomi tentang masyarakat pelarian Rohingya di negara ini telah membuat lawatan ke madrasah Al-Islahiah Al-Islamiah Tahfizul Quran, Jalan Meru, Klang pada 25 Februari 2012.  Beliau turut membawa bersama seorang pegawai dari Majlis Keselamatan Negara (MKN).  Profesor Azizah menyampaikan sumbangan peribadi sebanyak RM1,000 manakala MKN menyumbangkan pelbagai jenis buku rujukan agama Islam untuk bacaan murid-murid di madrasah tersebut.

Semasa kunjungan tokoh kehormat tersebut pimpinan MUR telah memberi taklimat tentang operasi dan aktiviti program pendidikan yang dijalankan di madrasah tersebut. Pada masa itu terdapat seramai 71 murid   (46 lelaki dan 25 perempuan) mengikuti pengajian akademik (Bahasa Malaysia, Bahasa Inggeris, Matematik, Sains, Bahasa Arab dan Pengajian Islam).  Tenaga pengajar terdiri seperti berikut:- 

- Encik Nurullah bin Nur Alam (Bahasa Inggeris/Sains)
- Puan Safa binti Shamsulalam (Matematik)
- Ustaz Al-Hafiz Abdul Jalil bin Dudumeah (Fardu Ain/Pengajian Islam/Bahasa Arab/Tahfiz al-Quran)

Pihak MUR berharap semoga hasil kajian ilmiah yang dikendalikan oleh Profesor Azizah Kassim itu dapat memberi kefahaman sebenar kepada pemerintah negara ini tentang isu besar dan permasaalahan serta kepayahan hidup  yang dihadapi oleh masyarakat pelarian Rohingya di Malaysia.  Apa yang sangat-sangat dinantikan oleh masyarakat Rohingya di negara ini ialah penyaluran bantuan dana untuk penyediaan prasarana dan guru-guru bagi menyampaikan pendidikan kepada anak-anak yang berumur dalam lingkungan 7 – 14 tahun (yang sepatutnya berada di sekolah untuk mendapat pendidikan duniawi dan ukhrawi secara formal).  Disamping isu pendidikan, masyarakat Rohingya juga menghadapi pelbagai kesulitan - antaranya adalah taraf pemastautinan yang sah, pekerjaan untuk menyara hidup seharian dan bantuan rawatan kesihatan. 

KUNJUNGAN PROFFESOR DR. WAKARUDDIN KE MALAYSIA

Proffesor Dr. Wakaruddin, yang merupakan Presiden Arakan Rohingya Union (ARU),  beribu pejabat di Pennsylvania, USA telah berkunjung ke Malaysia selama 2 hari, bermula pada 19 Januari 2012.  Pada hari pertama beliau telah mengadakan pertemuan dengan beberapa pemimpin Rohingya di Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIAM).  Antara lebih kurang 20 orang yang hadir termasuk pemimpin-pemimpun MUR (Ustaz Mohamad Amin, Ustaz Mohd. Jaber, Ustaz Mohd. Ayub dan Ustaz Mohd Karim) serta beberapa tokoh pemimpin masyarakat Rohingya yang lain seperti Sdra. Sawmeullah, Sdra. Ghiasuddin dan Sdra Abdul Ghani.

Dalam pertemuan itu, Dr. Wakaruddin menyeru supaya masyarakat Rohingya bersatu dalam  perjuangan. ARU yang dipimpin beliau akan terus membawa isu pelarian masyarakat Rohingya dan masaalah politik di Myanmar di peringkat antarabangsa, melalui OIC.  Dr. Wakaruddin juga akan berusaha melobi di peringkat antarabangsa bagi memaksa satu persidangan meja bulat antara ARU dengan rejim junta tentera Myanmar bagi membincang isu pelarian Rohingya dan mendesak rejim menerima etnik Rohingya sebagai warganegara Myanmar yang sah.

MUR HAS ESTABLISHED A YOUTH COUNCIL

MUR has formally established a Youth Council headed by Bro. Abdul Gaffour, 30 years, who is currently pursuing his Master program with the Faculty of History and Revealed Knowledge, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). He is being assisted by Bro. Abdul Quttub, his fellow colleague from UIAM.
The main objectives of the council are as follows:-
i) To bring together and make full use of the intellectual force latent among Rohingya youths in Malaysia. These youths have the golden opportunity to enjoy tertiary education, and are able to help provide the right guidance to their fellow friends on overcoming the manifold obstacles and challenges ahead;
ii) To strengthen the belief system (aqidah) of the Rohingya youth through organisation of motivational programs, such as talks, discussions, workshops and seminars so that they would be able to become good Muslims who would be able to uphold the principles of ‘amal makruf nahi mungkar’.
iii) To imbibe a sense of identity and pride amongst the Rohingya youth, as well as enable them to remember the struggles and difficulties faced by their forefathers.
From 19 to 20 November 2011, the Youth Council had successfully organized a holiday camp cum workshop on the theme ‘Rohingya Youth in Malaysia: Looking for a Better Future’. The event, sponsored by the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) was held at Chula Hotel, Port Dickson and attended by 40 Rohingya youth from the Klang Valley between the ages of 12 – 35 years old.
The 2 day program was conducted jointly by Abdul Gaffour and Abdul Quttub, who were assisted by MUR leadership under the chairmanship of Ustaz Muhammad Amin bin Muhammad Kassim.
The council also invited Mr. Ab. Halim Ismail [Secretary-General of Wadah Pencerdasan Umat (WADAH)] and Mr. Mohd. Ghazali bin Mohd. Yasin [Former Director of Future Global Network Foundation (FGN)] to give motivational talks related to the theme of the workshop.

Ibadah Qurban In Bangladesh,Myammar & Malaysia

The leadership of Majlis Ulama Rohingya (MUR) would like to take this opportunity to  extend its appreciation and thankfulness to all fellow Muslim brothers and sisters, as well as NGO leaders in Malaysia and outside the country, who had kindly contributed cattle and sheep as sacrifice for the ibadah qurban/aqiqah which took place in the month of Dzulhijah (1432h). This year alone, MUR received donations for the purchase of 61 cattle and 6  sheep for distribution among some Rohingya refugees living in Malaysia, the district of Cox Bazaar (Bangladesh) as well as those from within our families and friends who are still trapped in the Rakhine State in Myanmar (formally known as ‘Arakan’).





The MUR leadership would like to express its special thanks to Bro. Ahmad Azam Abdul Rahman (Chairman, Global Peace Mission Malaysia (GPM)) for his kind effort in  obtaining contributions for 30 cattle from Khayrat Foundation in Turkey for distribution to the Rohingya refugees.  MUR is also grateful to Jemaah Islah Malaysia (JIM), under the chairmanship of Bro Zaid Kamaruddin, for making a significant contributions for the same cause.

Ustaz Muhammad Amin bin Muhammad Kassim (Chairman, Majlis Ulama Rohingya) hopes that Muslim NGOs as well as every Muslim brother and sister who had made the qurban contributions for the sake of the Rohingya communities this year shall be rewarded by Allah Subhanahu Wataala for their goodly action, Insya’Allah!

EIDUL FITRI OPEN HOUSE ORGANISED BY MUR

MUR successfully organized an “open -house”  function to celebrate Eidul Fitri on 25 September 2011 from 12 noon to 3 pm. The function was held in an open space outside the MUR office in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur.  Some 300 guests attended the function, comprising not only members of the Rohingya community living in the environs of Setapak and Gombak but also Rohingya friends and leaders from other parts of the Klang Valley, Johor, Kedah and Penang. 




Among the guests of honour present were Dato’ Hasbullah Lebai Mat Isa (Assistant Secretary-General of PERKIM), Professor Azizah binti Kassim (Senior Researcher from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, who is carrying out research on the socio-economic  status of the Rohingya community in Malaysia).  NGO leaders comprising Bro. Ahmad Azam Abdul Rahman (Chairman, Future Global Network Foundation – FGN), Bro.  Tuan Haji Yaacob (Treasurer, Jemaah Islah Malaysia – JIM), Bro. Raimi Ab. Rahim (Secretary-General, Malaysian Islamic Youth Movement – ABIM), Bro. Ahmad Tajuddin (President, Persatuan Kebangsaan Pelajar Islam Malaysia) and Bro. Syed Abu Bakar (CEO, Tradisi Ilmu Cemerlang) were also present.  MUR leadership also invited the local mosques officials and community leaders in Setapak to join in the celebration.




Guests were entertained to Nasyid songs by a group of students from the Madrasah Al-Islahiyah Al-Islamiyah Tahfizul Quran from Meru, Klang under the guidance of Ustaz Al-Hafiz Abdul Jalil Dudumeah. The Chairman of MUR, Ustaz Muhammad Amin Muhammad Kassim, delivered his speech in Rohingya language and Ustaz Mohd. Karim Fazal Karim (Mufti MUR) addressed the guests in Malay.   Nur Muhammad (a student from the Meru Madrasah) narrated the plight of the Rohingyas in English.  



Apart from speeches by the Rohingya leaders, Dato’ Hasbullah from PERKIM and Bro. Ahmad Azam (Chairman of FGN) also addressed the guests at the invitation of MUR. The two NGO leaders reiterated their assurances of continued assistance through provision of quality education, both secular and religious, aimed at solving the socio-economic difficulties of the community. 



Ustazah Nabilah Yusof, a lecturer from Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) was also invited to deliver a tazkirah to the Rohingya women on the practice and true meaning of Ramadan and Syawal according to the teachings of al-Quran and the way of life of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.

Professor Azizah who has been providing a lot of support to the Rohingyas in the country through her research work, expressed her understanding of the real problems facing the Rohingyas in the country.  MUR hopes that she would be able to make concrete and meaningful proposals on how government agencies could channel their assistance towards solving the manifold problems faced by the refugees in the country.

The Eid Fitr celebration was in fact able to forge ties of friendship and spirit of brotherhood between MUR leadership and the Rohingya community as a whole.  At the same time such function could also provide opportunities for MUR leaders to meet up with  NGO leaders and local philanthropists to explain issues and problems confronted by the Rohingya refugees in the country and inform them of the type of support and assistance they could provide.

MUR LEADERSHIP VISITED ROHINGYA MADRASAHS IN SEBERANG PERAI TENGAH, PENANG

A delegation led by MUR Chairman, Ustaz Muhammad Amin Muhammad Kassim, visited 6 madrasahs run by the Rohingya community in the district of Seberang Perai Tengah, Pulau Pinang from 10 – 12 September 2011 . The madrasahs involved are as follows:-

1)       Madrasatul Muhajirin, Taman Senangin, Perai
2)       Madrasatul Zinnurin, Bagan Dalam
3)       Madasah Rohingya, Bagan Ajam
4)       Madrasah Rohingya, Ujung Batu
5)       Madrasah Jalan Baru, Bukit Mertajam
6)       Madrasah Rohingya, Seberang Jaya








During the visit, MUR donated  a pair of school uniform to all student (boys and girls) studying at the above madrasahs.  The MUR leaders also  donated the Holy Quran and Muqaddam, as well as  RM200 cash to each of the madrasahs mentioned above.





On the last day of the visit, a reception to honour the presence of MUR leaders was organized by the Bagan Dalam Rohingya community, headed by Bro. Nurul Islam. During the gathering, Ustaz Mohd. Amin (MUR President) and Ustaz Mohd. Karim (Mufti) were invited to give tazkirah (talks) on the theme related to the significance and spirit of the month of Ramadan and Syawal as prescribed in the teachings of Islam.
